From the village of Ischia Ponte, the symbolic "bridge" leads to the Aragonese Castle, evidence of all the civilisations that have passed through here, including Greeks, Romans, barbarians, the dynasty of Aragon, and the Colonna family. In 1441, Alfonso of Aragon gave life to what is still called the Aragonese Castle. He first built a wooden bridge to reach and islet, then other walls and fortifications. Inside, there were the royal lodgings and those for courtiers, troops and servants.
