News from the Italian Parks

Besides the realization of the preliminary actions - such as the online publication of the website, the opening of Facebook and Twitter pages and the realization of the first information brochures - the Life "Praterie" project, which addresses the Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains National Park as the only beneficiary and coordinator, launched a series of important preparatory actions. Within the project area, mainly including the Campo Imperatore upland, the actions related to the collection and assessment of the regulations regarding the goods of collective use, the realization of a geographical database on the soil erosion and a procedure of assessment of the zootechnical management problems have been started.
The data will be collected through census forms filled in by the veterinarians who are visiting the farms situated in the project area, and they will be completed by those resulting from the reconnaissance - which has been already started too - of the availability of watering troughs and of their maintenance status. By combining the data it will be possible, even at the beginning of summer, to classify the structural intervention priorities and to direct the actions to renovate the artificial watering points.
