The Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains National Park will take part in the 54th Sheep Festival, an event traditionally hosted and supported by the protected area, which will be presented in Campo Imperatore from 2nd to 5th August by the Chamber of Commerce of L'Aquila.
The participation of the Park in the festival is connected to the presentation of the Life + "Praterie" project, which has been financed with the amount of 1,680,000 Euro and is explicitly directed to the improvement of the high-altitude grasslands and pastures, exactly in the area of Campo Imperatore.
A recreational vehicle - used as a show room since a leader project was launched in collaboration with the Group for Local Action "Arca Abruzzo" - will be parked in the area to inform visitors and explain the project and its effects regarding both nature - namely the conservation of important habitats - and the socioeconomic perspective, since the project provides a series of specific actions for the improvement of the farming management on the wide upland and for the harmonization of the grazing regulations, besides the actions aiming at restoring the paths and adapting the tourist opportunities.
