Chivasso Nocciolino is a sweet liquor based on hazelnut extract, with 24% alcohol content. Hazelnuts are let steep in alcohol in order to extract their characteristic essential oils. The mixture of water, alcohol, natural hazelnut extract, and aromas is put into stainless steel containers.
- Production Area: Nocciolino, once an exclusive product of the Municipality of Chivasso (Turin), is now produced by a firm situated in the area of Novara that has taken over the patent.
- Legislative Protection: Chivasso Nocciolino is classified among the "Traditional Agri-foodstuffs of Regione Piemonte", according to art. 8 of the Legislative Decree 30th April 1998, n. 173 and the Annex to the Decisions of the Regional Council 15th April 2002 n. 46-5823.
