12th European Geoparks Conference
From 4th to 6th of September 2013 Cilento and Vallo di Diano Geopark will host the conference which also the Adamello Brenta Geopark is going to take part in.
(Strembo, 28 Aug 13) The twelfth European Geoparks Conference will take place this year in Italy, in the Cilento and Vallo di Diano Geopark on the 4th, 5th and 6th of September. In Ascea, the ancient greek city of Elea, one of the cradles of western philosophy, which has been recently recognized as UNESCO World Heritage, the delegates of the 52 Geoparks situated in 18 European Countries will meet to talk about the theme entitled "Geoparks: an innovative approach to raise public awareness about geohazard, climate change and the sustainable use of our natural resourses". The conference aims at finding the right ways to convey to the public the academic community's scientific knowledge about the geological risks and the climate change, in order to tackle these problems in the schools and to specify the role of the Geoparks in the raising of public awareness about the sustainable use of natural resources. The Adamello Brenta Geopark will be represented by the President Antonio Caola and the Director Roberto Zoanetti who will participate with a verbal presentation entitled "The environmental education project "Save the energy": example from Adamello Brenta Geopark", and present a poster entitled "A "fossil free" Park".
On the 2nd and 3rd September a meeting to define the Geoparks' Calendar of Activities will also take place.
The proposed themes are of vital importance for the future of the protected areas, therefore we wish the always hard-working Geoparks to have good workdays.
