The Via Geoalpina is a transnational project conceived and implemented as part of the UN International Year of Planet Earth in the three-year period 2007-2009. It consists of a network of geoturistic itineraries that cross the Alpine chain from east to west; 18 of these routes cover the Italian side of the Alpine arc, from the Julian Alps to the Maritime Alps.
