The itinerary leaves from Pescate, a town between the lake and the mountains, situated between Monte Barro Park and Adda Nord Park. These charming places have been described by Alessandro Manzoni in his novel I Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed): if you stop to admire the lake and the opposite shore, you will enjoy a wonderful landscape, defined by Manzoni "one of the most beautiful in the world...", with its Mt. Resegone and unique sunsets.
Following the lake shore, you will reach Garlate, whose main attraction is represented by the Abegg Silk Museum. The Abegg were one of the most important families of Swiss entrepreneurs who opened in the area several silk factories. As a matter of fact, silk working represented one of the main economic resources of the Province of Lecco until the 1930s.
According to the will of this family, this Museum opened in 1953. It is the first museum in Italy dedicated to industrial archaeology. At the moment, the Museum is under renovation and, for this reason, closed to the public.
