The itinerary leaves from the famous iron bridge of Paderno, called San Michele, a monument of industrial architecture dating back to the late 19th century. With its 150 meters, it represents a unique historical feature in Lombardy.
Near the bridge, take the asphalt road which, touching the monument dedicated to the Alpini, goes downhill to the river. Following the towpath running between the woody banks and the river, you will reach a lock near the dam Poiret, where you can visit the church of Addolorata.
You will meet then the inlet of Naviglio of Paderno, planned by Leonardo. The lock giving origin to this channel has been made particularly famous by the Codex Atlanticus.
Leaving from the river, you will reach the Sanctuary of Madonna della Rocchetta, where you can enjoy a beautiful view over Leonardo's beloved places that, according to someone, inspired the Maestro for the landscapes of Mona Lisa and the Virgin of the Rocks.
