A service large farm with an internal courtyard with residential elements, restricted to the lodging of the farmer and dependent workers, developed over the last three centuries. The tower, the most prominent element of the entire rural structure, was built at the end of the 16th century by the Spaniards as a watchtower and control tower for the trade routes connecting Matera with Bari and Taranto.
