The trail, developing along a ring-route around Mont Ciavac, gives the opportunity to observe some geological features characterizing the southernmost area of the Park.
As a matter of fact, the area of Andreis is particularly important for a fault called Periadriatic overthrust: because of an intense tectonic activity, more ancient dolomitic and limestone formations are surmounted on rocks of different origin (limestones, sandstones, and clay), more recent.
The movement develops along a clear fracture line, about one hundred kilometers long, that can be recognized near Col de Crous and in the ravine of the stream Susaibes.
