For about fifteen years the M.A.M. has been promoting ecological awareness in the Madonie Park area. The museum is housed in the rooms of a 16th-century palace and contains over 400 specimens of Sicilian and Madonie fauna, with rare or extinct species mostly from ancient collections. The exhibits have been arranged in faithful reconstructions of natural environments and diversified in the various rooms, ranging from the sea, wetlands and coastal areas to the hills and woods and the high mountains, the realm of eagles and vultures.
Round tables, conferences and exhibitions on nature are held in the museum and there is space for all sorts of material (scientific, photographic, pictorial) relating to the area. The stuffed animals presented here died a natural death or as a result of poaching.
Opening times: Open upon reservation from Monday to Sunday from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
