In 1985, this District in collaboration with the University of Pisa, the two Government Offices, the Municipality and the Provincial Administration of Pisa, organized the archaeological exhibit "Terre e Paduli: reperti documenti immagini per la storia di Coltano". The idea was born on the one side from the acquisition by the district library of the volume by Dario Simoni "Coltano e la sua Storia", on the other side by the considerable results obtained by research activities carried out in the territory during previous years by Dipartimento di Scienze Storiche del Mondo Antico, published just in part.
