Le sorgenti petrificanti

The habitat of the petrifying springs

The habitat of the petrifying springs is one of the three habitats considered by the European Union of priority interest for the conservation of nature in the Park.
This habitat is represented by creeks with running water where travertines form. Travertines are porous rocks formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate (limestone) spring waters are rich in (they acquire it during their subterranean route).
