If the stones of Appia Antica could speak… they would talk about the careful choice of the lay-out, the efforts for the rock cutting, the terracing, and the bridges built in the steepest valleys, the arrangement of the paving, the building of temples and huge reservoirs since 312 BC. They would talk about the marching Roman legions, the merchants headed to the East, about battles and brigands, extraordinary journeys and everyday-life events, about common characters and the myths of history, until present times.
