Cerreto Pass is the highest point where State Road 63 reaches Lunigiana, between Alpe di Succiso and the ridges of Valle dell'Inferno. The trails of "Sentiero Italia" and "Alta Via dei Parchi" cross this area, through a Site Of Community Interest (SCI) that includes the glacial hollows of the Padule lakes and the gorges of Orrido degli Schiocchi.
This is a geographic as well as historical border: a border between cultures, climates, and food traditions. Mainland and sea, Europe and Mediterranean, oaks and olive trees, chestnut woods and emmer fields, butter tradition and oil tradition, the Po Plain's fog and Cinque Terre's mild climate: everything meets here.
