On GoogleMaps, the paths that could be visited virtually, mapped by Legambiente volunteers through Google's Trekker Street View

(Pantelleria, 09 Apr 19) Legambiente has mapped some itineraries thanks to the Street View Trekker Loan Program so as to offer new paths to be visited on foot and to be displayed "virtually" also on computer, using Google Maps. The trails' images have been "mapped" in recent months by the association's volunteers who have travelled several routes with the Street View Trekker, a special "technological" backpack with 15 cameras placed at its top for a 360° navigation.
Among the mapped paths there is the one that leads to Montagna Grande (836 m. a.s.l), the highest peak of Pantelleria, situated almost in the centre of the volcanic island. Covered by an evergreen forest, Montagna Grande offers all nature lovers an incredible variety of landscapes and vegetation. Another suggestive itinerary is the one that leads to Monte Gibele (650 m. a.s.l): a now extinct volcano that could be reached through a path leading directly to the crater, with a base covered with a flourishing flora. From both these mountains, tourists could enjoy a beautiful view of the island, called the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea.
