St. John Pear

Summer pear with small-size and pear-shaped fruits; its peel has a basic yellow color, with localized reddening and grey small spots. The soft pulp has a pleasant taste only when it is complete ripe, when it is very sweet. It ripens at the end of June, close to St. John Day (24th June), from where its name derives. It is a pear with a very large distribution area, whose ancient presence in the territory was already witnessed by Prosperi (1877-85), for the territory of Penne - Lanciano and by Bielli (1930).
