The book "La lontra nel Parco Nazionale della Sila" is the report of a wildlife research project carried out by Sila National Park that had positive and partly unexpected results of great scientific and environmental interest. It focuses on the first objective survey of the presence of the otter in Sila National Park.
The otter is a semi-aquatic mammal mainly living in rivers. It moves nimbly swimming at night, when it looks for fish and finds shelter in the thick vegetation of the banks. The otter is one of the most endangered mammals in Italy, where it is surviving only in the rural areas of the southern regions.
