The "iron memories" itinerary starts from the Breda Carroponte, a large white metal structure built in the early twentieth century, which represents the center of the new city of Sesto San Giovanni.
Continuing from the Carroponte towards the North Park, we find ourselves in front of an architectural sculpture called "Porta Breda" that the artist Michele Festa created specifically for this place. Next you can see Villa Torretta, an elegant hotel built between the mid-16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, according to the typology of the many magnificent Renaissance villas that populated Italy at that time.
Following the descent curve of the walkway, you arrive inside a grove full of flowers, thickets, reeds and animals.
It is from here that the first lake built by the Park extends twenty-three years ago.
Around the water there is a particularly luxuriant and pleasant vegetation, in the middle float yellow nannuferi and aquatic plants of various types.
Continuing, you reach one of the most loved and popular places in the Park: "Il Teatrino", a strange building that offers a first and broad view of what everyone calls "the Montagnetta".
Climbing the cobbled staircase and the high black steps you arrive in front of a low circle of square stones engraved with the names that surrounds an iron and stone stele.
This is a monument, designed by the architects Belgioioso son and father, which was dedicated to the workers deported to the Nazi labour camps in memory of the Resistance inside the large factories. Near the entrance to the park from Viale Suzzani extend the metropolitan gardens, flanked by games for children and bowling green.
To reach the other part of the park you have to cross the first walkway of the park, built in '89.
This walkway, like all the others that followed, is not built with pylons or with obvious structures but is introduced by a soft slope of the path, which makes it more pleasant, both in terms of landscape and perception.
Looking up you can see the Palazzina Volo: control tower of the Breda airport, designed in the 1920s in a perfect rationalist style.
Along the avenue, on the left, stands the Cascina Centro Parco, a place where all cultural, educational and research activities are organized.
This is the point of reference for users, visitors, schools, cultural, naturalistic and sports associations, artists and all those who participate in the "life of the park" and help to keep the attention towards it alive. It is no longer just a park of trees and animals, but has become a place for meeting, exchanging and socializing. After the Cascina, you reach the intersection point between the two large avenues of the Park; the path continues to the left where the GEV Grove begins, a small area that had spontaneously re-naturalized after the war, which was discovered and cared for by the Voluntary Ecological Guards more than 25 years ago.
The path ends in front of the entrance to the so-called Bunkers: once used as anti-aircraft shelters for the technicians and workers of the Fifth Breda Division, today there are places of interest to visit and within which to organize various cultural events.
