(Tonadico, 22 Nov 12) On Friday 9th November the new volume of the series "Quaderni del Parco" was
presented in the wonderful setting of the Scopoli Palace in Tonadico. The twelfth
book of the series deals with the history and the renovation of the Boaletti
power center's ancient hydroelectric system dating back to the early 20th century.
After the greeting by the Mayor of Tonadico Aurelio Gadenz, the Park President
Giacobbe Zortea and the ACSM (Consortium Association for Municipal Services)
President Paolo Secco, others alternated to speak about the book: Vittorio
Ducali, Park Director, Andrea Sarno and Luigi Oliva, architects responsible
for both the study and the project, Marina Dragotto from the Association "Aree
Urbane Dismesse", Francesco Antoniol, historian and archivist, Giovanni
Vio, Professor at the IUAV University, Faculty of Architecture, in Venice.
The location
Near the locality called Madonna della Luce, the Parco Naturale Paneveggio
Pale di San Martino realized the repair of the intake structures of the first
hydroelectric system in Primiero, namely the Boaletti power center which was
built away back in 1902.
The Boaletti power center was one of the first hydroelectric systems in Italy,
and it worked from 1903 to the early 50's, when it gave way to the new hydroelectric
central in Castelpietra.
In 1966 an extraordinary overflow covered the intake structures which almost
disappeared: only the intake basin and few other elements remained visible,
but soon they were covered with a thick vegetation. Since 2005 many studies
and researches have been done which led to the renovation of the intake structures
for didactic and interpretative purposes.
The new volume published by the Park and added to the series "Quaderni
del Parco" with the title "Madonna della Luce, acqua, energia, paesaggio
e architettura in Primiero" aims at telling the history of this place
as well as the stages and methods of its renovation, which represents an example
of industrial archaeology directed to documentation purposes.
By Luigi Oliva and Andrea Sarno. Preface by Alessandro Ippoliti.
Among the authors there are Gianfranco Bettega, Vania Casagrande, Elena Luise,
Enrico Franzolin, Ivan Fontana, Francesca Anichini and Gabriele Gattiglia.
