Parco della fascia fluviale del Po - tratto Cuneese

Il Museo del Piropo di Martiniana Po

95 pages with color photos and drawings

The publication is dedicated to the museum inaugurated last July in Martiniana Po to enhance the extraordinary pyrope crystals, a variety of garnet, found in the area. The museum consists of three halls rich in didactic material. The first hall describes the Earth and the origin of the Alps, focusing on the Po Valley. The second hall is dedicated to minerals, and the third houses multimedia equipment. At the entrance, the words of prof. A. Biancotti explain the reasons of the project: "Each land, sometimes with the help of man, produces its geotypes, aesthetically beautiful monuments, or precious from a scientific point of view. Studying, describing, promoting these features of a sometimes extraordinary and sometimes whismical nature means exploring deposits of new raw material for sustainable tourism and rediscovering our cultural roots."
The book explains in detail the offer of the Museum in Martiniana Po: a useful instrument to deal with a complex but extremely interesting issue; useful above all for school groups, for which the museum has been especially studied.
