Leave from S. Lorenzo square, but once you reach Scala Santa, do not take it and go ahead on the right. Also avoid the uphill detour immediately on the left and go ahead for about 200m. After two right angle turns, right and then left, take the asphalt road running along the Rocca, with "Bealera dei Mulini" on the right, until you get to the SP road; take it on the left and after about 600m, always on the left, climb along the carriage road leading to the parking area across the southern slope, in a characteristic thermophile environment. The slopes are less steep than the ones of the northern itinerary. There are two hairpin bends. The first one is near "Tin-a 'd Pera". Near the second one, at the edge of the street on the left you can observe a beautiful group of "cupels" dating back to prehistorical times.
The route entirely develops along roads open to the traffic. Be careful.
