In the Park, mammals are currently represented by about thirty species. Until the 18th century, also the wolf and the red deer populated the Park: relentless hunting activities have led to their disappearance from Ticino Valley. Discovering these animals, studying their habits, behavior, diet, the relationship among them and with the natural environment is the best way to understand that none of them is useless and harmful, but that each of them has a specific task, an irreplaceable function in nature.
