Along the Ancient Roman Road

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Panorama, Hystory
  • Duration: 3 hour/s

Nature is once again the protagonist of an itinerary which, leaving from Piazza Torre d'Ere, leads to the Ancient Roman Road characterized by enchanting panoramas over the Island and Capo Noli.
After following the botanic trail connecting Torre d'Ere with Gola S. Elena, go ahead in direction Spotorno following a stretch of the Ancient Aurelia Road, particularly appreciated for the extraordinary panoramas it offers.
Going along it, you will not only admire its naturalistic features, but also enjoy its historical charm linked to the awareness to walk along an ancient Roman road, whose building started in 241 BC thanks to Caio Aurelius Cotta.
Once you leave the Roman road and the particular vegetation with characteristic features of the garrigue, take a trail surrounded by Mediterranean maquis that will be shortly replaced by the characteristic terraced cultivations with dry-stone walls. This trail of great historical importance can also be appreciated for the great vegetation variety it offers in the range of a few kilometers.
