The museum is housed in the Cantelmo Castle, the symbol, together with the Marsican brown bear, of the Monte Genzana Alto Gizio Nature Reserve.
The museum has five rooms plus an entrance hall used as a reception area. The museum is essentially focused on the historical-environmental context, understood as the relationship between man and nature, since the Monte Genzana Alto Gizio Nature Reserve represents the first and only institutional attempt to include an entire urban centre in the naturalistic, as well as urban, planning.
