It is the edge closing in the south the Gulf of Naples, beyond which the Gulf of Salerno begins. It is the so-called Promontorium Minervae, near which the ancient Greek and Roman ships used to stop waiting for the favorable weather conditions to round it. During the stops, the crew of those ships brought gifts to the gods to gain favor with them, reaching on the coast the Temple dedicated to the goddess, on whose remains, near the lighthouse, Torre Mozza was built. Divers, attracted from the archaeological richness of the seabed witnessed by the finding of several objects dating back to the Greek-Roman period and from the naturalistic beauty of the area, consider these waters an essential and prior destination.
