This wine, with a Typical Geographical Indication label, is produced with grapes coming from vineyards situated in the Municipality of Acquapendente. The cultivation soils are mainly of clayey origin, on terraced grounds with traditional dry-stone walls. The vineyards are almost entirely surrounded by chestnut tree forests. Monterufeno IGT Lazio Red Wine is characterized by a late vintage: as a matter of fact, it takes place approximately in mid-October, when the thermal stress between day and night favors the passage of fragrances and tastes to the grapes. It has a 13 percent alcohol and can be well matched with red meat, game, and mature cheese.
