From Casenda / Dascio to discover the Temple of San Fedelino

Leaving the car, take the marked path and, over a small bridge, you enter a beautiful, cool and silent forest that runs along the course of the Mera river. Having reached the crossroads with a mule track that constituted the ancient valley route of Valchiavenna, continue along the path that runs alongside the river, passing next to the rocky overhangs of Monte Berlinghera. After a small climb, you return to river level via a wooden staircase and reach the small grassy clearing, where the Romanesque architecture of the small temple welcomes the visitor.
The church can also be reached by another route, longer than the one described above, which starts from the town of Dascio (Municipality of Sorico). Another opportunity could be to reach the temple by boat starting from the small port of Verceia.

  • Duration of the route: maximum 3 hours - Easy route and accessible to all.
  • Starting points of the route: Casenda (municipality of Samolaco) or Dascio (municipality of Sorico).
  • Best period: November - May for bird spotting; all year round for the visit to the small temple of San Fedelino.
