CAI 423 Trail

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Flora, Panorama
  • Duration: 35 minutes
  • Difficulty Level: E - Hiking (level)
  • Difference in height: 220m

The itinerary CAI 423 represents the traditional uphill trail to the Sacred Mountain for the community of Pertusio.
The trail leaves from Case Piandane country hamlet in the Municipality of Pertusio (474m asl) and joins the pedestrian road of the Shrines in front of the 2nd Shrine of the Rosary (680m asl).
The whole itinerary consists of a very steep hiking trail crossing a thin coppice chestnut tree wood alternating with natural clearings, outcropping rocks, and shrub formations.
From the trail, entirely developing on the southern slope of the mountain, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the underlying valley and the towns of the upper Canavese area.
Because of its slope, the itinerary is used as training route and, once a year, it houses a footrace called "Trofeo di San Firmino", organized by the local Tourist Board.
The itinerary involves the Municipalities of Pertusio and Valperga.
