Honey
The territory of the Mountain Communities, which includes the
Municipalities of Ghiffa, Bèe, Cannero Riviera, Oggebbio, Premeno,
Trarego Viggiona, Arizzano, Aurano, Cambiasca, Caprezzo, Cossogno,
Intragna, Miazzina, S. Bernardino Verbano, and Vignone, is the ideal
place for the production of a great honey rich in therapeutic
properties. As a matter of fact, it is not contaminated nor subject to
antiparasitic projects. Moreover, the extraction of honey from the
honeycomb and the putting it into vases are carried out at room
temperature, since the heating and the excessive filtration neutralize
the precious and vital substances of the honey.
The beekeepers who
are part of ASSOCIAZIONE APICOLTORI DELLE COMUNITA' ALTO VERBANO E
VALGRANDE are 40 and have about 500 hives producing three kinds of
honey:
- acacia honey
- chestnut honey
- flower honey.
