The procession landscape from Fontainemore to Oropa
The historical processional route between Fontainemore and Oropa is
made of faith, devotion, and tradition, and it is nowadays
reinterpreted with a greater sensitivity towards the landscape where it
takes place. Without a doubt, the mountain landscape is the protagonist
of the itinerary: it is crossed by thousands of pilgrims who, after a
night of walk and going beyond Barma Pass between Lys Valley and Oropa Valley, reach the Black
Madonna Sanctuary.
Therefore, this research represents an invitation to
observe the landscape surrounding us, a help to discover and recognize
the traces of men and tales which, even if far in time, represent the
origin of our current identity; moreover, it gives a contribution in
strengthening the feelings of community and belonging among the local
population.
