The study reconstructs the history of the creation and installing of the museum of Sacro Monte by Emilio Contini, director-keeper of Sacro Monte as well as keeper of Varallo picture gallery and restorer in "Casa Valgana" at Sacro Monte first (from 1944), then in "Casa Parella" in the main square of the complex (in 1950). The event is considered within the artistic, cultural, and religious context of Sacro Monte from the second post-world war period to the early 1960s, outlining the restoration, "embellishment", and decoration works of Sacro Monte carried out in those years, as well as its tourist success.
