Piazza Giovanni Testori

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Hystory

In the late 19th century (1881), the sculptor Giovanni Albertoni, professor at Accademia Albertina of Turin and President of the Commission for the Conservation of Sacro Monte, gave to the sanctuary an artistic fountain dominated by the statue of "Pescatorello" he sculpted, to ennoble the area in front of the entrance door of Sacro Monte delimited on the left by the old hotel built in the late 16th century after the will of bishop Carlo Bascapè. In 1944, the statue of "Pescatorello" was damaged by some rascals: as a consequence, the fountain and the sculpture were moved into the Museum of Sacro Monte.
