Difficulty reaching and moving about in the area: Demanding itinerary requiring a number of hours walking on an easy mule track

Habitat: Vast treeless grassy valley with scree, crags and rockfall debris

Wildlife to look out for: Alpine newt, common adder, black redstart, alpine accentor, northern wheatear, black grouse, ptarmigan, water pipit, alpine swift, stoat

Equipment: Walking boots, mountain gear and umbrella

Notes: You can stop or stay the night at the Rifugio Dal Piaz alpine hut.
