This is one of the main gateways to the Park, and one of the most crowded too, especially on the summer Sundays and in August, when traffic jams risk to damage its delicate environmental balances. Val Canzoi is a long, deep valley with a beautiful and spectacular landscape. Trails leading to the Feltre Bivouac in Cimonega or to the Cimonega dairy hut, to Alvìs, to the Erera-Brendol "malghe" all start from the dam of La Stua Lake.
A carriage road leaving from the electric power plant of La Guarda leads you to Passo Finestra through Cansèch and Col d'Istiaga, and then it slowly descends to Boz Mountain Hut in the wonderful Conca di Neva.
At the Park borders there are several possibilities of refreshment, so that everybody can enjoy short and easy walks.
All the high-altitude itineraries are extremely interesting for the beauty of nature and landscape. Besides the lake, the potholes along the stream Caorame, one of the few which is rich in water in summer, are worth a visit up to about 1,000m.
Val Canzoi has a number of lateral valleys offering a good range of itineraries for all kinds of hikes. Everywhere you will notice the traces of an intense human exploitation, and a project for the restoration and the signalling of lime-kilns (furnaces for limestone cooking) has already been started.
