The Nature Reserve, established in 1990, includes the last stretch of the river Toce and part of the alluvial plain of Fondotoce; it presents itself as a typical relict wetland in a densely populated area. As far as nature is concerned, these environments are among the richest and most precious ones, also for the drastic reduction they suffered because of land reclamation.
